REFINISHING

The first step of refinishing a your hardwood floor is sanding the existing flooring down to raw wood. Once that’s completed and we have a flat, clean floor, we then apply your choice of either a custom stain color or natural sealers before buffing and applying 2-3 top coats of water-based finish. The product brands that we use are Bona and Loba, as these provide the best durability. Once we complete refinishing your wood floor, you will never have to do it again unless you want to change the color or the floor sees severe damage. (See Restoration & Maintenance)

INSTALLATION & SALES

We supply our clients with high quality wood flooring right from our own distributors for a fraction of the cost that they’d pay a larger flooring store. The wood we use comes from mills right here in Michigan and surrounding states. With new wood installations, you have the option of installing either unfinished wood or pre-finished wood. Whichever you choose, we will stick to strict NWFA guidelines to ensure the longevity of your floors. Our recommendation is to install unfinished hardwood flooring of your choice of species, character, and width. Once installed, we finish it on site using the 5 step NWFA sanding process.

RESTORATION & MAINTENANCE

Restorative maintenance coats (often referred to as a “buff and coat”) of a wood floor involves lighter abrasion, buffing the top coat just enough for a new finish layer to properly adhere to it. This is usually done with floors that Wood Tech already refinished in the past or floors that we are confident have been properly cleaned and maintained by the client without the use of waxes or oils. Having regular maintenance coats done every 4-8 years depending on wear is a cost effective way to maintain the look and durability of your hardwood flooring without having to perform a more expensive refinish.
